Benefit Concert – Aug 24

SATURDAY, August 24th:  Rhythms by The River  A Benefit Concert to Support Fish Research & Friends of the White Salmon River  FEATURING:  NEVER STRANGERS

Venue opens at 7:00 PM.  Music starts at 7:30 PM.   Event will end at 10:00 PM    Ryhthms by the River  is in Trout Lake, Washington.  Tickets must be purchased prior to the event.   Location details will be provided to ticket holders.    NEVER STRANGERS offer a blend of acoustic, folk, bluegrass, country, and gospel in celebration of the river community.  Why are we seeking funds for Fish Research? Native stocks of steelhead were trapped behind Condit dam surviving as freshwater Rainbow Trout.   Are they now returning to anadromy? Are other stocks of steelhead and salmon establishing and increasing natural spawning populations in the White Salmon River?   We don’t know.  Sustained multi-year research is needed.  About 10% of the research needed is being done.   Ten percent.  Think about that!  The situation is urgent.  Seven spawning seasons have now passed since dam removal. There is a clock ticking on research on wild salmon and steelhead.  That clock is ticking to the start-up of commercial tribal fishing, which may induce the introduction of hatchery stocks.  Friends of the White Salmon River find this situation frustrating.   There is a research plan. There are researchers available. There are established channels to connect funds with researchers.  All we need is the funding. Established sources are tapped out. Your donation will help.  So would your volunteer time.  You very much matter to the fish and to the restoration and protection of the White Salmon River. Contact friends@friendsofthewhitesalmon.org
